Alvaro F. Bastos
Alvaro received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Federal University of Vicosa, Brazil in 2014, and participated in a 1-year exchange program at Hanze Institute of Technology, Assen - The Netherlands in 2012. He joined UT Austin in 2014 as a graduate student and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. His main interests are power quality and renewable energy. |
David Martin Rosewater
David Rosewater is a senior member of the technical staff at the Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque New Mexico. In his current position, David performs national interest research on molding, control, and safety of battery energy storage in power systems. He manages the energy storage test pad, a MW scale power test facility designed for experimentation on and analysis of large battery systems. Prior to this, David interned for the Idaho National Laboratory researching methods for rapid electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, work that won an R&D100 award in 2011. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Montana Tech of the University of Montana and is currently pursuing a PhD in electrical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. David’s dissertation research focuses on modeling uncertainty in batteries to design better risk averse system controllers. |
Hunter Estes
Hunter received his B.S. degree in ChE in December '97 from UT Austin. From there, he worked in the semiconductor industry for nearly 10 years before he returned to UT. He received his M.S. degree in EE's power systems track in December '11 studying horizontal dc series faults up at UT's Center for Electromechanics (CEM) with Dr. Robert Hebner & Dr. Alexis Kwasinski. Hunter is currently working in Dr. Surya Santoso's research group, studying high resolution electrical data provided to him through an NSF IGERT Fellowship alliance with Pecan Street, Inc. His focus is analyzing residential loads and distributed generation through harmonic analysis of their voltage and current waveforms. Study and characterization of their usage behavior characteristics should provide invaluable knowledge into how people use electricity and energy in their households. |
Kyung Woo Min
Kyung Woo received his B.S. in electrical and electronic engineering from Yonsei University (Seoul, Korea) in 2012 and M.S. in electrical engineering with a specialization in energy systems from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree at the University of Texas at Austin. His research interests include power quality data analysis, fault identification and location, and root cause analysis of power system disturbances. |
Quan H. Nguyen
Quan Nguyen received his Bachelor’s degree from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam in 2012 and the M.S degree from The University of Texas at Austin, USA in 2016, both in Electrical Engineering. He is currently pursuing a PhD at The University of Texas at Austin. His research interests are power system control and optimization, renewable energy integration, power quality, and power electronics. |
